Feature and Follow Friday (12)

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read! :)

This week's question:

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is sometimes considered bad form.

A: It kind of annoys me when an author uses a third person POV but it gets really confusing since she doesn’t really construct it that well. I usually end up getting lost and not enjoying the book.

  4. Sometimes third person makes it difficult for me to connect to the characters.

  5. Correct! Multiple POVs are so annoying. I like it if it's two, but more than that and especially the same scene gets annoying. :/

  7. That is indeed very confusing at times. I'm not a big fan of that either.

  8. Great minds think alike! I hate third person POV too, but it appears very often in MG books. I don't know how, but it kind of works with MG books though. But in YA books is a big no-no, especially when they switch POV with the third person POV and without opening a new chapter (sorry about the blocks and cursive there, I am just getting a little emotional :P), I actually dropped a book that did that. It was just painful, I couldn't bring myself to bring it up...

  9. I don't really like third person POV either, but that is more of a preference then me getting confused, becasue I don't often get confused with third person. However, if the author is alternating POVs, while writing in third person, then I get hopelessly lost.

  10. I don't hate any Pov per se but I prefer 1st person. It really depends on the writing skill of the author
