Ashton Garrison walked away from a privileged life in order to hide from the one thing she's not willing to face. She knows she left behind a trail of pain, but in the long run, her betrayal will hurt less than the truth. She now has one goal: Live life to the fullest with no regrets and no attachments. She has high hopes that a move to new surroundings will provide the escape she desires, but what Ashton doesn't count on is how fate always seems to find a way to screw up any good plan. Sometimes, when love comes knocking, the pull is too strong not to answer. Suddenly, what she thought she wanted to escape from is what Ashton now wants more than anything.
Nathan Lockton has one mission: find his target and complete the task he was hired to do—no attachments and no emotion necessary. He's done it over and over again. What he thought was a typical lost-and-found job has turned into a life examining moment as Nathan is forced to deal with something he has always ignored--his feelings. Now faced with a decision, Nathan must choose to either follow his heart or complete the job.
Love can come when you least expect it. The question is: If the odds are stacked against you, how far are you willing to go for the one you love?

Review:

I really wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't. I liked it, but definitely not loved.

No Attachments is definitely meant to be an emotional book. It's a book you're suppose to feel in your heart because the characters are broken and lost but as I was reading it, I honestly didn't feel anything. I didn't feel that connection with the characters, they felt so closed off and not real at all. And honestly? I didn't really get the point of the story. Was Ashton's story meant to be heartbreaking? Was Nathan's past meant to be sad? I don't really know.

This book started off strong enough, the first few chapter were fun and engaging but as I read on, I was just bored and slightly confused. All Ashton really wanted was a one-night stand with the TDH (tall, dark and handsome) stranger at the bar but when the "stranger" decides to not sleep with her and extends his stay in the town, Ashton's plan was definitely crushed to bits. I bet you're wondering why Ashton needs to have a one-night stand, well it's because she has a bucket list  she needs to complete; she's trying to "live her life to the fullest". I understand Ashton's need to have a bucket list but what I honestly didn't understand was why she ran away. She actually explains why she did it but I really just didn't get it. She only ended up hurting her father even more by running away. I felt that Ashton was a bit of a coward, she was trying to live her life to the fullest and yet she ran away from her father aka her problem, they reason she ran away. (Note: He doesn't hurt her.) I felt that she needed to be more considerate of her father's feelings because she definitely hurt him. I don't know, I just didn't feel Ashton's character.

Nathan changes temperature faster than a thermometer being dunked into hot water. His golden rule has been to never, ever get attached but his super huge attraction to Ashton shot that rule down. He couldn't help but get attached, especially when they got to know each other. The problem I had with Nathan was that he was a bundle of confused nerves. At first he was cold and cocky but then the next, he was sweet and vulnerable. He's more hormonal than a woman on her period. The fact that he's hot doesn't even console me. Really.

I admit that the scenes between Nathan and Ashton were hot, but that really wasn't enough for me. They were just naughty scenes but they didn't add that spice I was looking for. Their feelings for each other were genuine enough but I didn't feel that sexual tension between them, there was no longing, just getting to know each other and then sexy times and then getting attached. It just wasn't dramatic enough. The whole thing just lacked drama for me. BUT when you find out Ashton's secret you'll be pretty shocked. There will be hints dropped but I didn't get them, let's see if YOU will.

I'm pretty meh with this book. I don't love it but I don't hate it. I think that it really depends on the reader so I'm definitely recommending this to people because others have enjoyed it, I just didn't as much. If you do decided to read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOUISSE!!

Yes, lovely people of Earth, today is Louisse's birthday... aka Me.

Is it weird that I'm doing my own birthday post? Well, yes. Yes, it is. But beggars can't be choosers and Geraldine just came back from her trip to China, so I'm doing all this by myself. I'm not sad... Not at all. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I just found out that I'm legally allowed to drink alcohol in Netherlands, I obviously need to move there soon. Not kidding. Isn't this post really random? How old am I, you ask? Well, I'm sixteen! Anyhoo, here's an influx of gifs that will express my feelings towards my day of birth:

Thank you, Rebecca.

Then the realization came...

Oh, dear Lord, I am so old. Not even the comfort of driving can slay the old agedness. Croo.

The only consolation I got was this awesome cake:

You'd think I was turning 6 and not 16.
CAKE WITH BALLOONS. 'nuff said.

COOLEST BALLOONS EVER.
Me with the CAKE AND BALLOONS.

Now you know how I look like in the morning... Gorgeous. ;) I'm not kidding.
Well, that's it! I just wanted to say how amazing this year has been; with my grades going up, our blog doing really well and meeting amazing people, I am very thankful. I can't ask for anything more... except maybe going to BEA. I want that... That's my only birthday wish, to be able to go to BEA. And no, I'm not sharing my cake.

Mwah.

Review:

Meet my newest addiction... or should I say, your newest addiction. I am seriously obsessed with this series! I finished the first two books in approximately 24 hours (I'm still waiting for my copy of Crush to arrive.) When you start with Crash, you'll need to read Clash ASAP. Even though they both had pretty satisfying endings, the two books are just so good that you'll just keep looking for more. I'll admit that I was pretty apprehensive when my mom (who absolutely loved Crash) told me to read Crash, not because I don't trust her judgment (because I do,) but because I wasn't really into the whole dancing in books scene. But when I finally got around to reading Crash, I just. Could. Not. Stop.

How can two people who are so toxic for each other, belong together? That's the question that your mind will keep dwelling on while you're reading Crash. There will be moments where you will be cheering for Jude and Lucy and there will be moments wherein you'll want to throw the book to the wall and cry out, WHYYY?!?! This book will literally mess you up, but you'll love it anyway. It will frustrate you, it will turn you on, it will get you hot and bothered and it will completely possess every crevice of your mind and heart till it's all you can really think about.

Lucy is the type of girl that if I were a guy, I'd totally fall in love with her. Even though she previously came from a privileged family ("previously" because her father's business came to a halt and now only her mother works,) she wasn't the type of person who flaunted her wealth instead, she was wary of the people trying to get close to her and she knew how to pick her friends even if it meant that she wouldn't have any. I feel like she's been hardened by the things that she's been through but not too much that she isn't willing to let people it. Reading through Lucy's conversations with her parents left me with an ache in my chest. Here, we have an amazing girl that her parents don't appreciate as much as they should. Lucy's father spaces out like there's no tomorrow and her mother is as cold as an igloo, and her brother... Lucy has a dysfunctional family that I'm sure quite a number of people can relate to, the thing with Crash is that the characters in this book are so relatable. These characters go through problems and issues that most teenagers/adults do go through, and that's one of the things that is so appealing about Crash.

Lucy and Jude's first meeting will either make you bust a gut laughing or leave you very frustrated. Jude's very confident (bordering on arrogance) will probably make you want to punch in the face but it also actually makes him even more attractive. There's nothing sexier than a man who knows that he's sexy because seriously, Jude. Is. HOT. Like, 5778 Kelvin HOT. But he isn't just a pretty rugged face, he's broken and not in a pansy "I'm-going-to-brood-throughout-this-whole-book" broken, he's literally broken. And beautiful. He's beautifully broken.

Jude Ryder is 110% a badass. He used to put the "man" in "man-whore" and the "hug" in "thug".  (I'm kidding about the last part.) He's the type of bad boy that thinks he's not worth anything, that redemption isn't possible for him. Jude puts a lot of emphasis on his darker side because that's really all he's ever known. He grew in a bad and unwelcoming environment that forced him to survive in any way that he could. That's what he did, he survived. Given the circumstances that he's been placed in, he did what he felt was going to help him, and no one should blame him for that. But the thing that really bugs me about Jude is that he, himself, is the one putting himself down. He does things he knows will prove what he says about himself right because he thinks that those are the only things that he's good for. I really wanted to give him the biggest hug known to man and non-humans because he needed to be comforted even though he didn't think so. Jude has been used and betrayed by so many people in his life that when something amazing landed by his feet, he immediately knew how important it was. An that something was Lucy Larson.

Lucy and Jude's relationship is hair-pulling worth (if you're a fan of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, you'll love Crash.) Jude's constant need to protect and push Lucy away will frustrate you to no end. He wants their "relationship" to work but he's also the one trying to push her away. Jude thinks that he's protecting Lucy from all the possible fuck-ups that he's going to commit, or has already committed. Their relationship, if I were to sum it up in one word, is... Crazy. They're crazy in love, it'll drive you crazy and Crash just spells c-r-a-z-y. But you will love it. If I could, I'd totally join in their duo and turn it into a threesome. *flails*

Anyone who reads Crash will definitely get hooked with the series. It's just something you can let go of. You'll fall so deeply in love with the characters that you won't want to say good-bye to them. Even though Jude and Lucy's relationship is a boatload of crazy, they are two people that you will not only relate to but also sympathize with. They become real people that you can connect with. Nicole Williams has written a book that has the perfect amount of steamy romance, sexual frustration and "grr"-worthy moments. You will fall in love with Crash and unless you have Clash right beside you, you probably will not be able to sleep till you have read the second book.

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read! :)

Q: Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

A: It's most likely because I listened to Demi's whole Don't Forget Album while reading the first two Gallagher Girls books but "Trainwreck" reminds me of I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You.

And P!ink's "Just Give Me A Reason" also reminds me of Kellan and Kiera's relationship in S.C. Stephen's Thoughtless series.

My mom thinks that the song "Torn Between Two Lovers" perfectly fits Thoughtless (for those who have read it, you know what I'm talking about.)

The song "She Wolf (Falling to Pieces)" by David Guetta feat. Sia reminds me so much of the Nightshade series (and the music video is freaking awesome!)

I could probably go all day recommending songs that I think fit a book but these were the first ones that came to mind. :)

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. Besides there was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.

The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

Review:

It's a well-known fact that I am in love with Abbi Glines and her books. I mean, seriously, who wouldn't be? They're sweet, steamy and addictive. And Twisted Perfection is not an exception. The story revolves around two lost souls trying to look for the freedom that was taken away from them. I cried, I laughed and I swooned reading this book and I am 100% positive that you will too.

I felt that Twisted Perfection had more substance than Fallen Too Far did, it was definitely a great first book to kick off a series. The characters in Twisted Perfection were more complex and had a lot more going on than the previous characters did. Don't get me wrong though, I love Blaire and Rush's story, it was heartbreaking and bittersweet but Della, even just by herself, already managed to make me crazed for her and Woods.

I was definitely shocked with the way Twisted Perfection started (trust me, Abbi Glines does not beat around the bush.) And I can't say with absolute certainty that the Perfect series is for a more mature audience. This book managed to make me have a full-body flush right from the second chapter, just whoa. I loved that Abbi Glines wasn't afraid to start the book that way, and not without reason either. You basically get the history between Della and Woods on how they first met (and what a first meeting it was. *swoon*)

When you first meet Della, you'd immediately assume that she's a fragile damsel-in-distress because she's bent over her car trying to figure out how to pump gas in it, but that first impression is completely untrue. There are a myriad of reasons as to why Della seems a bit clueless to the world (most likely because her mom was a psycho and wouldn't let her leave the house, but I'm just throwing out ideas here) but that doesn't mean she's a dame in need of delicate care in anyway. Sure, she may be fragile but that doesn't actually mean that she can't take care of herself. Because as you read on, you'll realize what a strong person Della really is. Even though life's thrown her a bunch of shit, she still stood firm and stared fate down. She took control of her life because she didn't want her past dictating who she was and what she was going to be. There are so many unknowns in her life but even with all that, she still didn't go back to her town and give up. No. She looked straight ahead and just went on. So even though Della might seem fragile, she's really not. Her fragility is her strength because it's what made her into such a great and inspiring person. Her pain isn't really something most people can relate to but it's so tangible that you will feel it as well. You will understand this fragile, strong and complex girl, and you will love and cheer for her.

I honestly didn't know Woods was such an intense person, because when you read about him in the Too Far books, he seems so cool and unaffected but in Twisted Perfection, he's actually a volcano eruption waiting to happen. Woods wasn't just arm candy in this book, he actually had his own story (yay!) Even though most people wouldn't want to be pitied, I did pity him. While Della may have a super messed up past, Woods has a super messed up past, present and possible future. The Vice President position for his family's country club was always meant to be his... until it wasn't. His grandfather didn't write Woods up in his will for it, and that seriously pissed me off. The fact that his grandfather, who he was really close with, actually gave Woods father leverage to manipulate Woods's life was just really sad. Woods was pretty much his father's marionette in this book because he was trying to prove to his father that he deserved the position that was rightfully his in the first place. Not only was he being forced to do crappy jobs for his father, he was also being forced to marry a vindictive little bitch. The only reprieve Woods had from his jacked up life was his friends and Della. Della who he thought that he'd never see again, but did. That's what you call serendipity.

The collision that happened between Della and Woods was the catalyst for so many drastic changes in their lives. It affected them both positively and negatively. No one was left unscathed, everyone was affected and was involved. There will literally be moments where you will want to shout "YES" and do a little happy dance but there will also be moments where you will want to sit in a dark corner and rock back and forth. This book will tangle up your emotions until you're left with so many mixed feelings and a crazy obsession for this series.

This is weave of interconnecting stories and lives will not only wrench your heart, but it will also soothe and calm the ache afterwards. Abbi Glines creates characters will not only love but also cherish. Every line, page and chapter you will read will imprint itself into your mind because that's what all great books do, stick with you indefinitely. And Twisted Perfection is without a doubt, a great great book. You may think that the ending of Fallen Too Far was shocking, wait till you finish this book. BOOM.

Fans of Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Holly Black's The Curse Workers will embrace this richly drawn, Norse-mythology-infused alternate world: the United States of Asgard.

Seventeen-year-old Soren Bearskin is trying to escape the past. His father, a famed warrior, lost himself to the battle-frenzy and killed thirteen innocent people. Soren cannot deny that berserking is in his blood--the fevers, insomnia, and occasional feelings of uncontrollable rage haunt him. So he tries to remain calm and detached from everyone at Sanctus Sigurd's Academy. But that's hard to do when a popular, beautiful girl like Astrid Glyn tells Soren she dreams of him. That's not all Astrid dreams of--the daughter of a renowned prophetess, Astrid is coming into her own inherited abilities.

When Baldur, son of Odin and one of the most popular gods in the country, goes missing, Astrid sees where he is and convinces Soren to join her on a road trip that will take them to find not only a lost god, but also who they are beyond the legacy of their parents and everything they've been told they have to be.

But his intentions for being on her side of town turn out to be the reason he can’t.

Chicago native Lacey has dreams of the opera, but life has its obstacles. Lacey has come to know her hardships as part of living in the real world and accepts them fully. When Lacey meets the intense and invigorating Drake, a fire is lit inside her, unleashing those dreams again.

Review:

While I was reading this book, I actually found myself wondering what the title meant. The Space Between gave off such a Paranormal vibe that I thought it would be, but I was wrong. It's really just a sweet but melancholic novel filled with such powerful characters. I really enjoyed this The Space Between.

I found myself getting turned off during the first few pages of this book because Drake was kind of a douche but as it went on, The Space Between started to grow on me. As I read on, I realized how interesting its characters really were.

Even though Drake seemed kind of obnoxious during the first few pages, he's actually a really caring person. There may be parts that he will seem a bit douche-y but he'll really grow on you. Drake is actually the adopted son of Senator Drake (they both have the same name,) and he's always had a strained relationship with him and it's because of this that Drake has a rebellious streak. But I guess his mother makes up for it? His family is kind of messed up and the only other normal and likable person is his sister, Adele. While he may have a weird, stand-offish relationship with his dad, Adele has the opposite. Their father has always favored her most likely because she's his real child and Senator Drake is a bit of a racist (Drake's of Asian descent but so, so yummy.) I'm actually amazed that Drake grew up to be a pretty outstanding young man who isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in. And he certainly didn't back down when his love was threatened but when it was tested, I can't say so much...

I really liked Lacey. Not only does she have an amazing voice but she's such a strong girl. She doesn't ask for help unless she needs it because she's so independent. And the fact that she's the only person taking care of her mama who has cancer is so inspiring. Her love for her mother is what drove her to look for a job and give-up her dreams. The things she was willing to sacrifice for love was so heart-wrenching.

The Space Between isn't just your average Contemporary novel. It's more than sweet, stolen moments. It's a book that shows us that even if you're part of two different worlds, that shouldn't stop you from falling in love. Drake and Lacey's relationship certainly wasn't an easy one but they managed to make it work because of their trust for each other. Even though there were meddling parents trying to prevent them from being together, they still overcame that in the end. I adored this book and I can't wait to read more!

Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

Review:

I've always been amazed of authors who can be so diverse and write books for different genres. It just shows their ability to be dynamic and emphasizes on their creativity, as well. I am so glad to say that Jennifer Armentrout is one of those rare authors. She doesn't have one specific genre or age-group, she has this maelstrom of different ideas that go into different categories. She writes YA books, Adult books and now, she's even jumped into the New Adult bandwagon. I'm just waiting for her to announce that she's writing a Middle Grade book. Haha!

If you're a fan of Colleen Hoover's Hopeless, then I guarantee that you'll love Wait for You. Don't get me wrong, these two books aren't completely alike but the twists, turns and hot guys of these books are quite similar. And the way that they both clutch at your heart will definitely remind you of the other.

Wait for You is a bundle of pain and love with humor thrown into the mix. There's so many emotions that are being expressed in this book that you won't be able to help but give in and experience them as well. You'll end up sympathizing with the characters and falling in love with them. And the story? Mind-blowing. You won't know what to expect until it's actually right in front of your face. You'll seriously be caught off guard because you'll be assuming one thing but will be getting another.

Avery Morgansten isn't your average witty and pretty heroine. She's more than that, and she's definitely more than what her secret is. She's had to live more than 5 years of her life ostracized and alone because no one could understand her. People believed in someone they shouldn't have and now Avery's life is completely desolate. Her parents are uncaring, she has no friends and she's afraid. While it's commendable that she managed to survive from what happened to her, I think that her problem is the lack of trust she has for people and that is one of the core things that destroys any kind of relationship. Trusting a person is hard, it's easier said than done but once you do find a person that you can completely trust, it's going to be a relief. They might not understand what you're going through/ went through but you'll have someone to talk to and that'll be one of the best things that will happen to you. It took a while for Avery to find that trust and when she did, I felt myself smiling for her. It wasn't an easy road, it was difficult and painful but she made it out and found someone that she could depend on. And person was Cam. Oh, Cam. More on him later though. I found myself rooting for Avery, I wanted her to find that relief; that safe haven that she's never had before because I knew that she deserved it. But she definitely did not deserve what happened to her. And I am so amazed that after everything that she's been through, she still manages to live and to survive. Even though it was a struggle letting people in, she was able to do it because she, herself, knew that she need and deserved a better life, and that made me so proud of her. Go, Avery!

Never has anyone made me want to eat eggs more than Cam has. Yup, EGGS. I want your eggs, Cam. *waggles eyebrows* But seriously speaking, I don't think that this book would be complete without Cameron Hamilton. And Raphael, the Tortoise. Cam was the one who brought a perspective to Avery's life, that she shouldn't be afraid to trust people and that not everyone was going to betray her. I loved his scenes with Avery because not only were they hilarious but they also heart-wrenching and quite honestly, beautiful. It was difficult for the both of them to open up but when they finally did, it will reduce you to a blubbering mess. Can I take a minute to swoon over Cam though? All this seriousness is killing my Cam-buzz. Not only is he hot but he's smart, funny and uber-protective. Score! I love it when he gets cocky and Avery puts him in his place (but she loves it, really.) He's also really persistent, you'll see. *wink*

A big part of this book was its family aspect. Both Cam's and Avery's. While Cam may have a very loving and welcoming family, Avery's... not so much. It was saddening reading about Avery's parents and their estrangement and chill towards their own daughter. It all ties back to Avery's secret... and even Cam's.

Wait for You is a book about loving someone not just enough to do things for them, but enough to trust them with all your insecurities and flaws. This is one of those moments wherein I wish fictional guys were real. I am sighing right now. Not only is Wait for You sweet, it's really steamy as well. Steamy to the point of possible burnage. It needs to come with a sign: "If you can't handle the heat, don't read it." <-- It rhymes too!

This book will open your eyes to issues that most people would rather not face but you know are possible. It's very in-your-face without being too overwhelming. I just love this book so, so much. I canNOT wait for Be With Me (and to get a print copy of Wait for You. Is it September yet?)
