Cassel comes from a family of Curse Workers - people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their hands. And since curse work is illegal, they're all criminals. Many become mobsters and con artists. But not Cassel. He hasn't got magic, so he's an outsider, the straight kid in a crooked family. You just have to ignore one small detail - he killed his best friend, Lila, three years ago.
Cassel has carefully built up a facade of normalcy, blending into the crowd. But his facade starts to crumble when he finds himself sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He's noticing other disturbing things too, including the strange behavior of his two brothers. They are keeping secrets from him. As Cassel begins to suspect he's part of a huge con game, he must unravel his past and his memories. To find out the truth, Cassel will have to out-con the conmen.

Review:
I found this book very
exciting and intoxicating. Holly Black takes you to a world filled with lies
and deceit. As you read this book through Cassel Sharpe's eyes you can't help
but imagine what it would be like to experience a real blowback. When I read this
book I couldn't but feel like it was somewhat the same as Ally Carter's Heist
Society. When I read this I couldn't help but imagine my father as a yakuza (he
has at least 9 tattoos all over his body and he also has piercings.) White Cat
is an awesome read that would leave you begging for more! And I just love love
love the cover! Heehee, the guy is hot~ Cannot wait for Red Glove.
teary-eyed! i missed this book from a book sale. could have bought it for a cheaper price!!! T_T maybe there's another book for me! =) your review makes me sad and sob more!!! i missed a good book!
ReplyDeleteOh, darn! That seems to happen to a lot of people, but I'm sure you'll get another opportunity, maybe with another great book? :) Thanks for reading and leaving a comment!
