Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

Review:

I'll admit that I was quite hesitant to read Obsidian at first. It wasn't that I didn't think it had a good story or anything, it was more of the fact that I was instantly turned off by Daemon's supreme douchiness. Even though people believe that women go for those types of guys, it's not always true and it's never cool to be rude to a girl no matter how much you think that she's asking for it. Though I was constantly reassured by my friends (and mom) that he had his reasons to be an asshole, I still couldn't push through with it. But after continuous stalling, I finally read it and I was... dazzled.

What really enticed me about this book is Katy's ingenuity and wit. She's basically this intelligent girl that some people may underestimate for being a petty human, but there's really more to her than that and trust me, she is anything but petty. She stands up for herself and tells those people who try to belittle her to go screw themselves. I especially love her dialogues with Daemon, they will keep you laughing out loud and fanning yourself 'cuz they do get Hot with a capital H. And awesomely enough, Katy's a book blogger! Whoot! (Bloggers Represent! Haha!)

Oh, Daemon. I want to love you and punch you at the same time. Jennifer Armentrout manages to make a love interest so swoon-worthy and hate-worthy at the same time. Though at first I did get turned off by his cockiness, it did grow on me after I realized why he did it in the first place. It was honestly quite sweet. Daemon is the type of guy who has"two-sides"; the one he shows Katy and the one he shows to the world. Guess which one I like the most? *wink* He can be really sympathetic and smug at the same time (it's a talent, I guess.) But you'll really see how much he cares for Katy throughout it all and that's what really matters, that he actually cares.

This book may be the most sexually frustrated book I have ever read. It just brims and radiates sexual frustration. There were literally times in the book where I just wanted to smack the characters upside the head and tell them to just hook up already! If this book was a real person, he'd need a lot of cold showers. A lot.

I will admit that I did kind of get the I am Number Four vibes from Obsidian but after reading it, I realized that it was way, way better than I am Number Four. The characters weren't dull, the aliens actually had super badass powers and you have this delicious love/hate relationship. I never thought that I'd love aliens so much!

If you want a book with an insanely strong and fierce heroine, some really steamy romance, and lots of lots laugh, you'll want to read this! Jennifer Armentrout creates yet another enthralling series that will capture your attention from the very first page. In an ere filled with vampires and werewolves, aliens are an intriguing and unique contribution to the Paranormal world. You'll love every second of it!

  4. I feel so bad for admitting it, but I've been pushing away from this book because of the hideous cover (at least.. I hate it, a lot of people seem to love it) I'm also not a huge fan of aliens, but I'm always trying to stay open for new things. So, I might get an e-book, so I don't have to look at the cover all the time :p Awesome review!

  5. I really love this book! And Katy is so cool since she's not like those girls on other books who would fall instantly with the guy. She really stand up to Daemon and resist his hotness as hard as she can. And she's a blogger too! And Daemon ... Daemon, Daemon, Daemon. *dreamy sigh* Can I just marry him? Great review, by the way. :)
