Review: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Title: The Graveyard Book
Author: Neil Gaiman
Pages: 320 pages
Publisher: HarperCollins
Published on: September 8th' 2008
Buy the book: Amazon / Barnes and Noble

After the grisly murder of his entire family, a toddler wanders into a graveyard where the ghosts and other supernatural residents agree to raise him as one of their own.

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack—who has already killed Bod's family . . .

Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.
(Summary from Goodreads)

This is the first book i have borrowed from Louisse. At first, I was hesitant because it looked boring but then as I progressed into reading it, it was actually interesting. I was crying during Science period because I've learned that his teacher, whose name I forgot, died protecting Bod. All in all, it is a superb book. Read this book if you have a soft spot for family, friendship and love books.

Review: Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

Title: Sisters Red (Fairytale Retellings #1)
Author: Jackson Pearce
Pages: 324 pages
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Published on: June 7th' 2010
Buy the book: Amazon / Barnes and Noble

Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.
Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for? (Summary from Goodreads)

I first found Sisters Red at Amazon while I was searching for some books and as I came upon it's beautiful cover I couldn't help but be awe-struck at the cover. I immediately listed it down on my "Wait list" and hoped that they would sell it here. And just my luck, they did.

Sisters Red is an amazing read for those Jacob Black lovers because when you meet Silas Reynolds you'd end up thinking, "What the hell was I thinking liking that baggy werewolf!"
Sisters Red is an amazing, action-packed romance novel that people should read. Right now.

Need I say more?

If I found out that Jackson Pearce (The Complete Utter Genius who wrote this wicked awesome book) was and is going to write a second book for this (it doesn't really need one, it's awesome by itself :)) I would die happy. :)

Zin dances with fire in every step; speaks with a honey sweet voice; and sees with eyes that can peer into your soul. Nicole's friendship with him is the only thing that saves her from the boredom of school and the turmoil of her family life. It's no wonder why Nicole is madly in love with him. But she can't understand why he keeps her at a distance, even though she can feel his soul reaching out for hers.

Zin is like no man Nicole has ever met, and he carries with him a very old secret. When Nicole uncovers the truth, her love may be the only thing that can save him from it.
