Waiting on Wednesday (17)

Waiting on Wednesday/s are hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine in which you choose a book or books that you're excited and waiting for.
This week's Waiting on Wednesday book is:
Title: Splintered
Author: A. G. Howard
Publisher: Amulet Books
Publication date: January 1st 2013
Pre-order the book: Amazon / Barnes and Noble

This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.

When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

Why I'm excited for this:
As you all know, I am in love with fairytale retellings! They're just one of my biggest weaknesses and when I saw the cover of Splintered, I was caught. That is seriously one gorgeous cover! And even better that the summary is super interesting! I love the darker Alice in Wonderland vibe that it just gives off. And you know how I like my fairytale retellings, dark, sexy and gruesome.

Leave us a comment with your WoW post and we'll check it out! :)

  8. This is my most anticipated book for 2013. I'm dying to read this book ever since I found about it. Too bad my request from NetGalley for an e-Arc wasn't approved :(
