I grab her exploring finger just as it reaches my happy trail—a trail that if I let her wander down further will lead us to do things we can’t take back. Things like three-word phrases being confessed that would end me if I was rejected. Things like selfishly wanting to own her body and doing things to her that would make my fantasies blush. And things like making her promises too soon that won’t do either of us any good. She makes me want a future that’s not possible, and one I don’t deserve.
Listening to my ego
got me into this situation. Will listening to my heart get me out?

Review:
I had to read Good Vibrations twice for me to fully grasp the depth and meaning of the book. And I can honestly say that I enjoyed it even more the second time I read it. I was able to appreciate the characters more and I was also able to connect with them, as well.
Good Vibrations is 100% the perfect beach/summer read of the year. It's fun, refreshing and also very dramatic. There were moments when I was gripping my iPad super tightly because of the intense emotions I was feeling, and the characters were feeling. While the story of this book is quite light and very playful, there's an underlying tension in it. You will really empathize and sympathize with the characters in this book because they are all connected to each other and S.L. Scott bridges the gap between the reader and the character, so you actually end up putting yourself in the character's shoes even more.
I adore Mallory, I really do. She's a strong, smart and beautiful girl, but there are times that she lets her insecurities get the better of her. I am so glad that Evan doesn't ever let her get away with that, because there's nothing worse than a woman who feels bad about her self. And if there's one other thing that gets to her, it's Evan. When I first read the book, I was pretty iffy about their relationship. I didn't know whether I liked it or not or if I thought they were healthy for each other, but as I read it the second time, I realized how perfect they were for each other. Evan and Mallory balance each other out. Mallory is the sensible girl while Evan is the gorgeous guy trying to not make her sensible. Their relationship is chaotic but that only makes it all the more exciting. I loved the drama that happened between the two of them, when they were both trying to hold back the undeniable attraction between the two of them. Mallory and Evan are great together because let's face it, there's no such thing as a perfect relationship and their's just not even close to that perfection but in the end, their perfect for each other, and that's what counts the most.
I think that the only issue I had with this book is that there were times that the scenes felt a bit rushed. While Mallory and Evan's romance/relationship was a slow burn, there were parts that were bordering on insta-love which wasn't even emphasized on in the book. Good Vibrations mainly focused on both Mallory and Evan's lives (including their friends, families and enemies.) I love have S.L. Scott incorporated her side characters and made them a story of their own. It was so great reading what was happening with Sunny (Mallory's best friend) with a couple of guys. And may I just mention Noah? *swoon* Even though I am seriously in love with Evan, if Mallory doesn't want Noah... can I have him? Hee!
There's something in Good Vibrations that really struck me, the thing between Mallory and Evan. I can't really elaborate on it lest I spoil some important things but rest assured, you'll figure it out once you see it. The ending of this book was great. It wasn't overdone and there are also still questions that need to be answered but not now. Maybe, soon. Maybe. Like I said, Good Vribations is there perfect summer read because it's hot, fun and very beachy. I am dying for Book 2 because the teaser in Good Vibrations? Killed. Me. Good job, S.L.! Thank you again!

Travelling, music festivals, and surfing are a few of the hobbies she loves, but she doesn't get to enjoy on a regular basis. She has an obsession with movies, a varied taste in books, and collects Fitz & Floyd teapots. With a memory full of useless trivia facts, and a Keurig addiction, she loves a fun night in with her family as much as a loud night out with her friends.
Scott lives in the lively city of Austin with her husband, two young sons, and two Papillons, enjoying life in the beautiful hill country of Texas.

This sounds like a perfect book to read for summer!
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting...
ReplyDeleteI just bought this book for my Kindle the other day, but I would love to have a signed paperback of it! The cover is so summery and cute - I need it for my bookshelf, lol. I've been wanting to read this as soon as I saw it. I love the Beach Boys, and this book's title is also the title of one of their songs. As soon as I saw the cover, I was reminded of them. :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little book! I'd love to read this over the summer. Thanks for the awesome giveaway :D
