I'm reading (and really enjoying) Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague by Geraldine Brooks right now and have encountered a few unfamiliar words. One that comes to mind at the moment is not a big word, but one I'd never seen before, so I looked it up just the other day: "posset"=(noun) a drink made of hot milk curdled with ale, wine, or the like, often sweetened and spiced.
I learned quickening from The Games of Thrones too and somewhere else too I just can't remember. My FF
