Feature and Follow (13)

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read! :)

This week's question:

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can't deal with bad editing?

A: I hate it when I'm reading a finished copy of a book and there's still a lot of errors. Or like when the heroine is super indecisive that I just want to stab her in the eye or give a her a good smack in the head and tell her to JUST PICK ALREADY!! I also hate it when you're reading a book and you're pretty cool with it starting a bit slow to build up the tension but then BAM! nothing really happens. It just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and you really don't get anywhere.

Leave us a comment, we'd love to hear/see your thoughts!

  2. Yeah, grammar errors have to be really bad and constant for me to be annoyed and wishing I had that proofreader's job!

Can't stand indecisive characters either, especially in love triangles.

  3. Completely agree. Slow build ups to nothing are frustrating.

  5. Great answer. I agree with every single point that you've made! A story needs to be a rollercoster ride of fun, excitement, emotion etc not a boring read!

  6. Lol, awesome answer! I couldn't agree more, especially when there is a love triangle and the main character won't decide who to pick.. ugh!

  7. Ohh, totally agree! I hate it when I think that a book is building towards something: and in the end, not a thing happened..

  8. I get so annoyed when a book builds up to nothing and after I finish the book I set there and think "what was the point of this book?"

  11. All great answers. I swear sometimes I'm like wtf just pick already and then they come up with this amazing plan to save the world or something like that....like okay you can save the world but couldn't decide on what shoes to wear? Aggravating.

  12. Yes, I hate both of those things too. Indecisive characters are very annoying! And I think its disrespectful for authors or publishers to publish a book that has a lot of errors in it!

  13. Wow, I just read a book that had almost all of those elements in it. It wasn't pretty. I could barely get through it, so I'd have to say those are dealbreakers for me too. Good picks.

  14. Too true, I want a great build up with excitement, not a flat read.

  15. Haha. I know what you mean. I feel the way about indecisive characters particularly in love triangles. Actually, I don't like love triangles very much in books, because it annoys me that the MC can't decide. And the read always knows who she will ultimately choose. Frustrating!

  16. Definitely indecisive characters bother me too! Especially if the book dwells on it too much! Great answers!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm a new follower!

  18. I find it difficult to deal with too many point of views, too many characters in just a few pages and plot roles. Also I don’t find bad edited books very attractive, and this can turn out to be a deal breaker in the end. Love triangles I can deal, but I’m getting tired of reading the same things in romance books...
